Mr. Diender is considered a blue ocean strategist for Huawei Enterprise and frequent speaker at events around the world. Adept on a range of subjects, from digital transformation to big data to smart cities, to enterprise solutions. Not a salesman, not a technologist. A Tech strategist, accustomed to larger concepts.

Mr. Diender introduced and envisioned the Energyverse for Smart Grid+ and intelligent connectivity (2021). He initiated The Hierarchy of Needs for Connected Cities and Industries, in 2020. End of 2018, Mr. Diender developed and launched the Universal Framework for Smart City Construction visualized via the principle of Rubik’s cube. In 2017, Mr. Diender introduced the Intelligent Operations Center (IOC) as the Brain and Nervous System for Smart Cities. Mr. Diender initiated First Safe Then Smart, as a principle for safe city to smart city transformation in 2016. He developed and launched Secure Converged Communications in Europe in 2005. He pitched and sold one of the 1st IP-communications platforms ‘as a service’ in the Dutch market in 1998.

He has been globally involved in several programs and initiatives; scaling from small up to medium and large roll-outs across the industry value chain. Mr. Diender is experienced in negotiating and bringing tomarket concepts and solutions for the digital journey of Smart Cities and eGovernment, including Collaboration-enabled Business Process (CEBP), The Future of Work and Digital Transformation. Mr. Diender joined Huawei at the end of 2011 to help establish Industry Solution Sales Practices for the WEU region. He became spokesperson to global analyst organizations and international media in 2013. He is a coach and mentor to new staff and employees and part-time lecturer in Huawei University.

Mr. Diender is a contact to non-profit boards and standardization bodies (eg. UN Habitat, ABAC, WEF). He is advisory board member for Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, KMUTT Thailand, sHero China, NPI Preventive Care Thailand, o9 Solutions/AIM10x APAC, and IE Business University in Madrid.

In 2015, Mr. Diender was appointed CTO in the UC&C Marketing & Solution Sales dept. in Huawei head office, Shenzhen. He became Vice President Public Sector in 2016. Mr. Diender is awarded Most Valued Professional (MVP) in Huawei Enterprise. Since 2018 he is vice-leader of the Marketing & Solution Sales dept., High Level Executive Communications Leadership Team.

As Chief Innovation Officer he helps customers and partners with their digital journey regarding energy transition and carbon neutrality. He is the go-to-person for innovation, digital twins, carbon offset and carbon trading, sustainability and new business growth. He will focus on Smart City Economics, Intelligent Energy Solutions and informatization of the power grid. Transforming the conventional grid via smart grid+ and intelligent connectivity towards an Internet of Energy; or Energyverse, as he calls it.
