Huw Williams joined government in 2018 and heads up Investor Relations at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. He covers the Department’s engagements with the financial sector, across legacy oil and gas, new nuclear, CCUS and hydrogen.
He has also worked across many areas of energy transition policy in HMG, including extensive work on the UK’s gas market.
He deals regularly with key infrastructure investors, pension funds, insurers and Sovereign Wealth Funds, but also with advisory investment banks and equity research analysts, as well as the major energy industry companies in the UK and overseas.
He was part of the UK delegation to the October 2022 IAEA Ministerial in DC, focused on nuclear technology, as well as being part of the UK delegation to CERA Week.
Prior to HMG, Huw worked in equities in Investment Banking, focused on the energy sector, based in HK, Singapore and London.
He has authored many major reports on global gas markets, including China and India, as well as Europe and has a wide understanding of the role that gas can play in the energy transition.
He has a degree in Mineral Resources Engineering from Imperial College.
